Actor Saif Ali Khan was rushed to Lilavati Hospital during the early hours of Thursday, after being attacked during a robbery attempt in his Mumbai home.

Actor Saif Ali Khan was attacked at his Mumbai home during an attempted robbery, and is currently admitted to the Lilavati Hospital. A new statement from the actor’s team on Thursday noon says that the actor has come out of surgery and is “out of danger.” The statement reads, “Saif Ali Khan has come out of surgery and is out of danger. He is currently in recovery and the doctors are monitoring his progress. All family members are safe and the police is investigating the incident. We would like to thank Dr Niraj Uttamani, Dr Nitin Dange, Dr Leena Jain and the team at Lilavati hospital. Thank you to all his fans and well-wishers for their prayers and thoughts during this time.”

A new statement from COO of Lilavati Hospital, Dr Niraj Uttamani said, “Saif Ali Khan was attacked by an unidentified person at his house. He was brought in at 3:00 am by his son Ibrahim Ali Khan along with their caretaker. He has 6 wounds by sharp objects like knife etc of which 2 wounds are deep and one close to his spine. A small piece of foreign body close to the spine is identified. He is currently undergoing surgery under Dr Nitin Dange, Consultant Neurosurgeon, Dr Leena Jain, Consultant Plastic Surgeon, Dr Nisha Gandhi, Consultant Anaesthesiologist, Dr Kavita Srinivas, Intensivist, Dr Manoj Deshmukh Consultant Radiologist. The extent of the damage will be understood once the surgery is completed.”

His wife actor Kareena Kapoor’s team confirmed that there was an attempted burglary at their residence during the early hours of Thursday. The statement said that the rest of the family, Kareena and their sons Taimur Ali Khan and Jeh Ali Khan, are doing fine. At the time of the incident, Kareena, Taimur and Jeh were inside the house. Saif tried to save his family from the attack and got injured during the scuffle. Saif’s older son, Ibrahim Ali Khan, brought him to the hospital.

Crime branch officials said the suspect was not captured in the CCTV footage of the lift or the lobby of the building, so it is is believed that the suspect entered the building through the back entrance of the building and climbed 12 flights of stairs. The officials believe that the suspect entered the apartment through the house help’s quarters and had an argument with them. The suspect was then locked in the children’s bedroom later but managed to flee.

The statement from Kareena’s team read, “There was an attempted burglary in Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan’s residence last night. Saif had an injury on his arm for which he is in the hospital, undergoing a procedure. The rest of the family is doing fine. We request media and fans to be patient and not speculate any further as the Police is already doing their due investigations. Thank you all for your concern.”

Dr Jalil Parkar of Lilavati Hospital told SCREEN that Saif was stabbed at his Bandra home and was admitted to the hospital at 3:30 am. “Saif Ali Khan was stabbed by an unidentified person at his Bandra home and was brought in at 3:30 am. Saif has six stabs and two are deep. Of this, one is close to spine. He is being operated upon by team of doctors led by neurosurgeon Dr Nitin Dange, cosmetic surgeon Dr Leena Jain, anesthesiologist Dr Nisha Gandhi,” he said.

Mumbai police confirmed that an unidentified person intruded at his home and the actor had a scuffle with them. It was during this that the actor was injured. The matter is currently under investigation. A senior police officer said that the house help also sustained minor injuries. DCP Zone 9, Dixit Gedam shared, “An unidentified person intruded in the residence of Actor Saif Ali Khan. The actor and the intruder had a scuffle. The actor is injured and is being treated. Investigation is going on.”

As per a statement by the actor’s team, there was an attempted burglary at his Bandra residence. “There was an attempted burglary at Mr Saif Ali Khan’s residence. He is currently in hospital undergoing a surgery. We request the media and fans to be patient. It is a police matter. We will keep you updated on the situation,” the statement read.
